The HOPE Study

The HOPE Study

In the Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation (HOPE) study, ALTACE® reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease for people aged 55 or older who had normal blood pressure or whose high blood pressure was already being treated.29

Key Finding

For the studied group of patients aged 55 or older, ALTACE® reduced the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death beyond other cardiovascular medications taken alone.29 These medications included aspirin, cholesterol-lowering agents, and blood pressure medications.29

HOPE Study Results

The HOPE study proved 10-mg doses of ALTACE® reduced cardiovascular risk in high-risk patients aged 55 or older. ALTACE® reduced the relative risk of heart attack by 20%, cardiovascular death by 26%, and stroke by 32%.29 These results were in addition to the effect of any other medications the patients were already taking.29
