About ALTACE®

ALTACE® is a type of medicine called an ACE inhibitor. ACE stands for angiotensin-converting enzyme. It is a chemical compound that helps create a protein named angiotensin II. Angiotensin II can raise blood pressure by causing your blood vessels to narrow.7 ALTACE® helps lower your blood pressure by decreasing the amount of ACE your body makes.1

ALTACE® is the only ACE inhibitor proven to reduce the risk of having a heart attack or stroke in people aged 55 or older who have any combination of the following serious cardiovascular (heart-related) risk factors1,27,28:

Important Safety Information

Do not take ALTACE® during pregnancy, as death or injury to your unborn child may result. Do not take ALTACE® if you have experienced serious side effects related to previous ACE inhibitors.

Common side effects include persistent dry cough, dizziness, and light-headedness due to low blood pressure. Prescription ALTACE® is not for everyone. ALTACE® may cause swelling of the mouth, tongue, or throat, which could cause extremely serious risk and requires immediate medical care.
